The Peachland Gazette is an independent online publication based in Peachland, British Columbia. We publish local news, matters of public record, civic and municipal information, analysis, commentary and opinion concerning Peachland and issues affecting the community.
The Peachland Gazette is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official publication of the District of Peachland, the Province of British Columbia, or any other government, political party, public body or agency.
Editorial Content and Public Records
The Peachland Gazette seeks to distinguish between factual reporting, analysis and opinion. Articles designated as analysis or opinion may contain interpretation, commentary, criticism or the author’s conclusions based upon the information available at the time of publication.
Our reporting may rely upon publicly available records, government documents, council agendas and minutes, court and tribunal records, legislation, public statements, interviews, correspondence and other sources considered relevant to the subject being reported.
The inclusion of information from a public source does not constitute endorsement of every statement contained in that source. Where appropriate, readers are encouraged to review original documents and source material for themselves.
Accuracy, Corrections and Right of Reply
The Peachland Gazette makes reasonable efforts to publish accurate information. News and public affairs, however, frequently involve developing circumstances, incomplete records, conflicting accounts and information that may subsequently be corrected or clarified.
When a material factual error is brought to our attention and can reasonably be verified, we may correct or update the article. Minor typographical, grammatical, formatting or stylistic corrections may be made without a correction notice.
A person or organization that believes a material statement concerning them is inaccurate is invited to contact the Gazette at info@peachlandgazette.ca and provide the specific statement at issue together with any documents or information supporting the requested correction.
Where appropriate, the Gazette may also provide an opportunity for a person or organization who is the subject of significant reporting or criticism to provide clarification or a response.
Opinion and Commentary
Opinion articles represent the views of their respective authors. They should not be interpreted as statements of established fact merely because they appear on The Peachland Gazette.
Commentary may include criticism of governments, elected officials, public institutions, corporations, organizations, public policies and matters of legitimate public interest. Readers are encouraged to distinguish between reported facts, reasonable inference, analysis and expressly stated opinion.
